Who Are We?

Aviation Training Ltd's owners Richard & Simon first met at Little Gransden over 20 years ago when, as newly qualified PPL's both had ambitions to have careers in aviation as flight instructors. Having completed CPL's both were taught to instruct by the legendary Lindsay Brown.

As you will see from their bio's below, the experience both have gained over the last 20 years is vast. However one of their joint ventures was teaching and examining Radiotelephony. Operating as RT Courses - rtcourses.co.uk over 250 students successfully gained their RT licenses.

In 2020 they decided to form Aviation Training Ltd to operate both the RT training and allow them to apply for Designated Training Organisation (DTO) status to carry out other aviation training.

Richard Francis Co Founder & Director
	Richard started flying gliders at Duxford and soon moved onto powered flight. After gaining his PPL, ATPL and instructor rating he taught at Bourn for many years as FI(R), FI and then CFI. Richard now provides flight instruction at Duxford, Fowlmere and Rougham. In his spare time Richard is a qualified diver and likes to explore the depths of both Mediterranean seas and muddy British lakes.

Simon Hatch Co Founder & Director

Originally flying RC model aircraft at Bassingbourn, Simon took his Trial Lesson at Fowlmere at the age of 15. Simon gained his PPL, IMC & Night Ratings and then after leaving university went on to achieve his CPL and FI(R) before teaching for 6 years full time at Henlow Flying Club. In 2005 he gave up full time instruction for a job in finance. Since then he has been part time CFI at Flying Club Little Gransden and now teaches weekends at Cambridge and Fowlmere. When not flying Simon enjoys the occasional shift in the Tower at Conington and in the summer can often be found on the bowling green.
